Over the last while I’ve bought a lot of beauty items so felt a good aul haul was due. I don’t think I’ve ever done a beauty haul, but felt it was necessary to give my impressions of these products, to help those interested in buying. I didn’t do swatches of these products but if you want to see one just ask on Snapchat.
- Wet n Wild Lipstick in ‘Cherry Bomb’
This is only second item from this brand. There’s been a lot of talk about their lipsticks so I picked up this plum colour. It’s so tough to use, you really have to use a hard hand to get it on, not creamy at all. Then when it’s on, I didn’t even like it. The texture of it has really put me off. The colour was alright but I’m not really taken with it at all.
2. Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner Pen
Eyeliner is one thing that I have in plenty, eyeliner pens to be exact. I saw the pen on this and knew I had to try it. It is thick and angled so thought it would be perfect for achieving the perfect wing. Sadly I was wrong. The style and angle of the pen actually makes it more difficult to draw over the eye. The pigment isn’t as black as I’d like either.
3. Catrice Defining Blush in ‘090 Mandy-rine’
I found this in a bargain bin for half price, result! This is a gorgeous peach tone blush, it’s very natural and has a slight highlight to it. I really like it. Catrice is just killing it lately. So for sure have a rummage around those bargain baskets in your pharmacists for other shades of this.
4. Collection #ConcealAndLightLikeAPro Palette
So I was delighted when I spotted this because I wanted an affordable cream contour palette. I had never used Collection products before so honestly had no expectation. For €6 you get 4 shades along with 3 colour correctors and a highlight. I’m honestly not mad about this. I mean the colour pay off is just o.k, but there is very light coverage, once blended out it just kind of disappears. Not a single pimple covered.
5. Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation in ’03 Cool Beige’
I got this foundation to try as I had heard great stuff about it. It does give a slight glow without being dewy….if that makes sense. It’s a light coverage foundation, which is something I honestly hate. My foundations have to be medium to full coverage. For that reason I just wear it going to work where there’s not much effort required. In saying that, I will use this for the summer. I did want to get a BB cream for when the sun and heat eventually arrive, but this foundation would be nice too.
6. Revlon Colour Stay Foundation in ‘Natural Beige’
I had to buy this foundation over all the hype over it, and I had quite high expectations as a result of all the talk. So, it’s really liquidy, and not as high of a coverage as I expected. BUT it is buildable. I do find that it does last quite well on, and I do like it, though there are others I prefer, like I wouldn’t go raving about it. I sound so bloody difficult don’t I?!
7. Penneys PS Eyeliner Pen
I purely got this because it was cheap. The pen is really thin and glides nicely over the eye and great for getting that good wing. You would need a second going over to get it darker. There is one downside to this though. The pen is like a marker pen, in that some bits of it come off, and always as I do my wing, so frustrating. Other than that I’m impressed with this I really like it.
8. Penneys PS Super Matte Liquid Lipstick in ’03’
A matte liquid lipstick for under €3 can’t be any good surely?….well, how untrue a statement could be. I am so impressed with this. I have so many liquid lipsticks ( All Matte Everything) so I’m very critical of new ones I try. This one has a gorgeous colour, is not drying, goes on evenly and creamy. It lasts a reasonable length of time for such an affordable lipstick, but I still wouldn’t leave the house without it if I have it on.
9&10 Penneys PS Love To Glow Moisturiser and Instant Glow Serum
There is a reason I have these under the same heading, that’s because I think they’re pretty much the same product. The only difference I’ve noticed is that the moisturiser is more hydrating on the skin and a slightly thicker consistency, now I mean only slightly. They both leave the skin glowing and super soft. I do like them both but I don’t think the radiance serum is a patch on the likes of the Boots Botanics Radiance Balm. That could just be me? I use the moisturiser everyday and it feels great, even on my dehydrated skin.
These were all my honest opinions on these items. In saying that what I like and what works for me, might not work for others. Either way I hope my views helped 🙂
