Hi, I’m Aoife and I’m addicted to my phone.
Whether you’re a blogger or not I think most of us find it hard to put the phone down. My phone is literally always in my hand and to be honest, I’m sick of it. It’s gone to the stage now where I’ll put on a movie I’ve been dying to watch and what’s the first thing I do? Grab my phone. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!! It’s literally like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, repeat, and to be honest it’s not as if you miss much when you’re not on it anyway. “God what will I do if I miss a cherry blossom Insta pic, what will I do with my life”
I think I’m worst for Instagram, it’s my favourite form of social media. I just love taking photos anyway. Facebook and Snapchat are gone shite lately let’s be honest. I used to love Snapchat but I’m just not feeling it lately. I have considered deleting it but I think I’ll prob just sign out for a while regardless. Sorry friends.
It’s hard because as a blogger I obviously have to be active at all times in order to engage and grow followers. Sometimes I wonder where my ‘blogger self‘ ends and where me, Aoife, starts. I see myself as the ‘anti-blogger‘ blogger sometimes. In that my posts on Instagram I try not to be too ‘bloggery‘. I just like to keep things real. I find this whole blogging thing can be so cringey so why the feck take it so seriously. I also don’t want to lose a sense of myself with being a blogger. Which is why my photos show 100% who I am, me Aoife, not just ‘Leather Confessions’.
I do feel like I’m constantly thinking of the next Facebook post, the best Instagram shot. It’s EXHAUSTING! Especially now that there are reach restrictions on both Instagram and Facebook it’s even harder and can totally get you down. Being disheartened with a lack of reach or likes on a post is really the most pathetic thing, let’s be real. There’s a lot worse going on in the world I could worry about.
Social media with blogging can be all consuming. In that everything I do in some way revolves around the blog and to be honest, that’s not something I like and it makes me realise that full time blogging is something I definitely wouldn’t want for myself.
I really want to try take a break from social media but I honestly wonder if I could. Which is pretty bad isn’t it? I am sick of it consuming me though so I will make the effort. At the very least to not look at my phone as often anyway. I used to fear this would lose me followers but if that’s the case so be it. Bigger things to be concerned about. So when will my absence from social media begin? I’m not sure. If you notice I’m gone, just know I’ll be back and I’m always worth waiting for dahhhhling.
TShirt: Zara || Trousers: H&M || Jacket: Charity || Runners: Penneys
PS: How cute is this outfit? My shirt may say 80’s but I feel super 70’s, even my hair was doing a Farrah Fawcett on it. I highly recommend wide leg trousers. They are so comfortable and really flattering. Perfect coming into Summer when jeans can be a bit too hot and uncomfortable. A lot of you loves this tshirt and I can see why. I love contrast hem shirts, they’re really retro and so cute.
