It’s been an age since I’ve done some sort of beauty / make up post, for 2 reasons:
1. I am cheap when it comes to makeup and skincare. I don’t want to spend money on it. It’s not a priority for me.
2. I’ve bought a few over time that just haven’t been worth talking about and didn’t want to give time to products that didn’t suit me and I didn’t like.
Ok, before we get into this look at me like your lazy cheap girl guide to beauty and make-up. I’m only going to talk about shit I really like. I won’t spend my good ‘hard’ earned dolla on products, I’m going to buy the inexpensive items, because….yes you’ve guessed it, I’m cheap. Haha, no but also because I rather spend the money on clothes. I’ve also got bills and a rent etc. Ok? Justified? Let’s get to it.
BARE IN MIND: Cosmetics are different for every skin type. What might work for me might not work for you.
1. Penneys Hydration Boost Moisturiser
I have such dehydrated skin that it’s important for me to use something that’s quality, which can be hard when you’re tight on the €€. The word ‘hydration’ caught me as well as the price €6. It’s almost like a gel consistency. It’s super cooling on the skin. A little goes such a long way with this. My skin drinks it UP!! It doesn’t leave the skin too tight but could also do with another moisturiser over it to add more softness. Been using it a few weeks now and I’m really liking it. So many moisturisers are heavy on the skin but this feels so light. I will totally repurchase.
2. Penneys Primer Water
I was honestly a bit sceptical of this product at first. For €3 I thought the price might be too good to be true. I was happy to notice that it worked quite well for me. I’ve had the bottle ages now and have barely made a dent. The smell is actually quite nice too. I leave it dry completely before applying my foundation. My nose and chin always seem to fade faster so need to add another product in these problem areas. I also just really like to spray products on my face, is that weird?
3. Note BB Cream
I’ve been raving about Note Cosmetics for ages now. I wanted a BB cream for days I just didn’t want to wear a full face. In saying that this one is a lot thicker and fuller coverage than any BB creams I’ve used before, it’s practically a foundation. Not that I’m complaining because I just love it. It gives the skin a fab glowy complexion and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I got shade 1 which I wear with a tan as it’s a tad bit darker than my own colour. Note is so affordable too for only €11.95 I’ve finally found a foundation I’m 100% happy with.
4. Note Illuminating Moisturising Foundation
Sensing a theme? I have quite dehydrated skin so the illuminating part caught my attention. It makes the skin look more fresh than illuminating, if that makes sense. I found it does cling on to some blemishes and dries them out (not good). Overall though I really like it. It goes on thick enough but blends out so easily. Choosing a shade can be difficult. Shade 02 is my own skin colour, if not paler, personally I hate my foundation to match my Casper completion so I’ll choose a shade darker. Shade 03 is what I would wear with tan. It would be great if there was more options to choose from.
5. Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
I HATE mascara that adds nothing only colour to your lashes. For me mascara is V important, in saying that I don’t think it’s a product you need to spend big bucks on. This one is the one. It separates and lengthens the lashes like a dream. The wand is also perfect for your bottom lashes. I’ve tried the Lash Princess Volume Mascara thinking it might be similar but I keep going back to this one. I mean, for about €4 you’re onto a winner. Be careful not to keep layering though as they will clump your lashes.
6. Aldi Lacura Dry Shampoo
If you’ve been following me on Facebook you know that Aldi is my Hun. I was grocery shopping and needed dry shampoo and didn’t think twice about picking it up. We’re all used to the Batiste one but they best watch their back. I was pleasantly surprised. It honestly left my hair feeling fresh. Sometimes I find dry shampoo can make your hair stiff and just feel grubby. This made my hair quite soft. I’m swearing by it now.
7. Garnier Skin Active Oil Infused Micellar Water
I’ve never really been a big fan of micellar water. I’ve tried a tonne, and felt a lot had dried out my skin. I was using the ordinary Garnier Micellar water but wanted to give the oil based one a go, I love using oil based products as I find they remove make up 10 times better. I find this takes off my make up with such ease. I never need to go over my face twice. My skin is left feeling so soft and clean. Totally not greasy either. This micellar water gets a big thumbs up from me.
